This is one of my developement computers and if you look closely at the files you will see that I have FS9, FSX, FSX Steam and P3D ver2.5 all running side be side.Īll of this could have been avoided if Dovetail had used their own FSX SE folders and file names regardless if FSX box was installed or not. Deluxe Edition Flight Simulator X was released in two editions, Standard and Deluxe. When Dovetail installs FSX Steam and because it sees FSX box it then creates a FSX-SE folder and a FSX_SE.cfg. Through increased online gameplay capabilities, Flight Simulator X offers players a connected world where they can choose. The FSX box version has a FSX folder and makes a FSX.cfg. Flight Simulator X enables pilots to fly the aircraft of their dreams, from the DeHavilland DHC-2 Beaver floatplane and Grumman G-21A Goose to the AirCreation 582SL Ultralight and Maule M7-260C Orion with wheels and skis. This picture shows again that FSX Steam made a different folder for their FSX_SE.cfg in the Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft.

In this folder are the FSX and FSX-SE folders that have their own scenery.cfg files. Microsofts Flight Simulator X (FSX) is the tenth edition of their flight simulation software for PC released in 2008. This picture shows the Windows 7 Programdata folder. Each have their own saved files and Log book. This picture shows My Documents with Flight Simulator X Files folder and Flight Simulator X - Steam Edition files folder. As MalAir said this will cause many problems.

If you install FSX Box on a computer that has FSX Steam then FSX Box will take control of the My Documents folder, Scenery.cfg, FSX.cfg plus many more files. FSX runs fine for me running windows 8. FSX Steam will use different folders and different file names if it sees FSX box is installed properly. You MUST have FSX box on your computer before you install FSX Steam. Many including myself have FSX box and FSX Steam on the same computer with no issues. Legacy does not look for Steam Ed and will cause many problems. When I bought the game I was running Winows 8 which I upgraded.
